Career

We are one of the fastest-growing LLM applications, and thousands of investors have signed up for Fintool. We are at the forefront of revolutionizing how information is organized, consumed, and created, and we would love to work with you!

Team

Nicolas Bustamante (CEO): spent 7 years building one of the largest AI-driven legal search engines (Bloomberg for lawyers). Nicolas hired nearly 200 people, secured millions of dollars in debt and equity funding, and the profitable business was successfully acquired by Summit Partners, a $43B billion growth equity fund, for $x00M+.

Edouard Godfrey (CTO): worked for nine years at Apple, leading teams of data scientists and engineers. He worked on Apple Search (Spotlight) and Apple Pay, maintaining big data pipelines and deploying cutting-edge AI models. He received the 2019 Apple Pay Innovation Award for outstanding contributions and fresh insights.

Matt DePero (Data Engineer) worked at Google and then at the search engine Neeva (acq. by Snowflake) where he built the crawl-to-index pipeline infra processing petabytes of data.

Jesse Provost (AI engineer) worked at Blue J Legal where he built a RAG infrastructure for a legal LLM.

Dak Brown (GTM) worked at several Silicon Valley startups before starting his own company. He also spent 6 years as a nuclear reactor operator on USS New Hampshire, a Virginia-class submarine.

Company Values

Clone and improve the best: we're not about reinventing the wheel but about enhancing proven success. We are shameless cloners who stand on the shoulders of giants. It's about mastering the best of what other people have already figured out. We draw inspiration and then create differentiation because distinctiveness drives dominance.

Release early, release often, and listen to your customers: speed matters in business, so we push better-than-perfect updates for customers asap. Mastery comes from repeated experiments and learning from mistakes rather than putting in a set number of hours. It’s 10,000 iterations, not 10,000 hours.

Warren Buffett: We model our personal and professional ethos on the principles he exemplifies. Upholding integrity, valuing honesty, practicing frugality, championing lifelong learning, embracing humility, extending generosity, applying rationality, and demonstrating patience. Every day, we strive to mirror these Buffett-inspired virtues.

Working philosophy

Small team: small in-person teams outperform large and well-funded companies. When people visit our office, they should be surprised by how few people we are.

Ship code: we avoid meetings, PM jargon to release early, release often, and listen to customers.

In-person: we believe high-performing teams do their best work, build long-term relationships, and have the most fun in person.

Interview Process

We move fast; the entire process can be done in less than a week.

30-min Zoom screening with the CTO or the CEO: to understand if you have a deep expertise that we are on the same page regarding how we work.

30-min Zoom with the CEO: to understand if your career goals aligned with our team and if you fit our culture. Most of the time is spent answering your questions.

2 hours in-person interviews: an hour of technical brainstorm about our challenges and an hour about our business challenges. There is also plently of time for open conversation and answer your questions

Two days trials: if possible we prefer when candidates spend two days with us to get a better sense of the team and the work we do. We pay for the two days.

Reference checks: we ask for the contact of three references (colleagues and managers) to get a better sense of your work and how you work with others.

Q&A

Do you hire remote? No, we work in-person 5 days a week. (cf working philosophy)

Did you raise money? Fintool is backed by Y Combinator as well as angel-entrepreneurs such as the co-founders of Vercel, Datadog, HuggingFace, or domain experts from OpenAI to Deepmind. We have several years of runway.
We do not communicate on the amount we raised. We think it's a vanity metrics and we always prioritize frugality and profitability. We believe that constraints often spur creativity, and an excess of funds can be a pitfall for many startups.

Do you have product market fit? Yes, thousands of investors have signed up for Fintool and we already have paying customers. Our users see how Fintool will replace their $10,000+ subscriptions to our competitors and save them countless hours. Our challenge is to build our product faster and keep up with the demand.

Why will Fintool succeed? While success is never a given we believe we are operating in a very large market where the LLM revolution is a massive tailwind. By keeping our team small, avoiding raising a stupid amount of money and continuing building a highly differentiated product we believe we have a good shot at creating a large company.

Do you provide any healthcare benefits? we cover medical, dental and vision.
